Chapter 10: The Healed Melody

Two days later, Gabriel returned to the mountain lodge in the Adirondacks.
Sitting on the wide wooden porch in the afternoon sunshine, he held the antique walnut music box in his hands. He had personally stripped out the false partition, discarded every trace of the surveillance hardware, and meticulously restored the original brass clockwork mechanism.
Isabella and Elena walked out onto the porch, carrying freshly picked wildflowers from the meadow.
"Isabella, come here," Gabriel said with a warm smile, beckoning the little girl over.
Isabella climbed onto Gabriel’s lap, looking curiously at the polished wooden box. For a second, a flicker of hesitation crossed her eyes.
"Do you remember what this box was made for, Bella?" Gabriel asked gently.
"It had a mean clicking noise," Isabella murmured quietly.
"Not anymore," Gabriel said softly. "Listen to what it was always meant to play."
Gabriel turned the small brass key at the base and lifted the lid.
Instead of an eerie red light or a cold clicking sound, the sweet, delicate chimes of a classical music box resonated through the mountain breeze—playing a beautiful, soothing rendition of Clair de Lune. A small wooden ballerina began to spin gracefully upon the velvet platform.
Isabella’s eyes widened with pure, childlike wonder. A radiant smile spread across her face, completely erasing the ghost of fear that had haunted her sleep.
"It makes pretty music, Daddy!" Isabella exclaimed, clapping her hands.

"It will only ever play pretty music for you, sweetheart," Gabriel said, kissing the top of her head. "It is your treasure now."
Elena stood beside them, smiling with deep, peaceful contentment. The room, the music box, and their home had finally been reclaimed by love.
