While Mia rested under Martha’s watchful care, Julian met with Detective Miller and his lead legal counsel, Robert Sterling, in the penthouse study. Spread across the mahogany desk were hard drives containing recovered cloud surveillance footage, financial statements, and private text logs.
"Evelyn was methodical," Sterling explained, pointing to the timeline. "She deliberately dismissed loyal household staff members who raised concerns, isolated Mia during your business trips, and diverted childcare allowances into offshore accounts. The internal nanny cam footage we recovered from the hidden hallway sensors is damning."
Detective Miller nodded grimly. "We have multiple counts of felony child endangerment, intentional infliction of emotional and physical harm, and grand larceny. The District Attorney is bypassing any plea bargain options. This will go straight to trial with maximum sentencing guidelines."
Julian listened to the cold legal terms, his heart aching at the thought of what his daughter had endured while he was negotiating mergers across the Atlantic.
