The courtroom was quiet, save for the low murmur of legal clerks organizing folders and the steady ticking of the wall clock above the judge's bench. The air inside was dry and smelled of old paper and polished wood. Elena sat at the opposing table, flanked by two high-priced corporate attorneys in sharp gray suits. She wore a tailored black blazer and maintained a facade of serene detachment, though I could see the slight tremor in her hands as she adjusted her gold bracelets.
Judge Harrison entered from the side chambers, adjusting his spectacles before sitting down and motioning for the room to quiet. "We are here for emergency docket matters regarding Vance versus Vance, case file eighty-four-zero-nine. Counsel, you may proceed."
Marcus stood up, buttoning his suit jacket, and walked toward the center of the well. "Your Honor, we present forensic audits, notarized banking records, and recovered physical hardware demonstrating a systematic, multi-year depletion of the minor child's trust fund by the respondent, Mrs. Elena Vance. Furthermore, we submit corroborating eyewitness testimony from household staff regarding ongoing financial coercion and domestic instability."
Elena’s lead attorney immediately rose, his voice smooth and practiced. "Your Honor, these documents are selectively edited excerpts from normal household management, and the so-called evidence was obtained through an unlawful search of private residential quarters without proper—"
"Save it, Counselor," Judge Harrison interrupted, his voice cutting through the courtroom with absolute authority. He flipped through the certified bank statements we had submitted, his eyes scanning the columns of numbers detailing the Cayman Island shell accounts. "I have reviewed the certified wire routing numbers and the sworn affidavits from the primary financial institutions. These are not household management records; these are active asset diversions."
