Chapter 14: The Final Evidence

The sudden glare of camera flashes illuminated the center aisle as I stood side-by-side with Ethan, holding the leather folio against my chest like a shield. Arthur Pendelton took a frantic step forward from the edge of the stage, his face draining of all color until he looked like a wax figure left too long in the sun.
"This is completely out of order!" Arthur's voice cracked, losing its polished veneer of corporate authority. He gripped the wooden podium so tightly his knuckles turned stark white. "Security! Please escort these unauthorized individuals out of the ballroom immediately."
None of the security guards moved an inch. They remained stationed by the doors, loyal now to Ethan and the hard reality of the documents we carried.
"They aren't going anywhere, Arthur," Ethan said, his voice ringing out across the silent room. He turned to face the stunned crowd, his expression unyielding. "For the past six years, the Vance Foundation has operated under the guise of pediatric care. But behind closed doors, our so-called chief physician, Dr. Marcus Vance, working in direct coordination with this board, systematically altered prescription dosages for vulnerable children to keep them dependent, quiet, and compliant—all to pad our quarterly financial reports and embezzle millions in donor funds."
An audible gasp swept through the ballroom. High-society matrons pressed champagne flutes to their chests; prominent local officials stared at the stage in sheer disbelief.
"That is a vicious lie!" shouted one of the senior board members from the front row, scrambling to his feet with a red, furious face. "He's unstable! The boy was sick, everyone knew it—"

"Noah wasn't sick until your doctors touched him," I spoke up, my voice remarkably steady as I stepped forward. I opened the leather folio and pulled out the first set of duplicated records, holding them up toward the lights. "Here are the original pharmacy manifests. Here are the ledger entries showing monthly kickbacks wired directly to offshore accounts controlled by Arthur Pendelton. And here is the confession signed by Dr. Marcus Vance less than two hours ago, detailing every single altered bottle of medication administered inside the estate."
The silence in the room was absolute. Arthur slowly let go of the podium, his knees buckling slightly as he realized the trap had snapped shut with absolute, inescapable finality. There were no lawyers who could spin this, no public relations campaign that could bury the paper trail we had laid bare.
